JOB DESCRIPTION

As a school counselor, you will be part of the school's student health team whose main mission is health-promoting and preventive work. You will structure and coordinate social interventions around students with various school difficulties. In this role, you will also guide teachers in psychosocial issues, work with students on an individual and group level, and have support conversations with students. Based on the student's needs, you will collaborate with teachers, guardians, and others within the student health team, as well as with social services, child and adolescent psychiatry, and more. You will also be part of the school's equal treatment team where you, together with others in the group, work preventively and sometimes assist with urgent interventions.

Examples of job tasks:

• health-promoting and preventive work at the group level
• conduct support, motivation, crisis, and conflict conversations as well as investigative, advisory, and processing conversations with individual students
• initiate and participate in network work around students
• map and assess the social situation outside of school for individual students
• work with groups in urgent needs and for preventive purposes
• be responsible for revising and updating the school's action plan regarding sexuality, consent, and relationships
• be responsible for following up the school's equal treatment work
• provide professional guidance and consultation to school staff
• contribute with a social and psychosocial perspective in the development of the educational activities

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained social worker. If you have experience working in the school environment or similar work, we consider it an advantage.

As a school counselor with us at Vimarskolan 7-9, you find it easy to collaborate but can also plan and prioritize your work and perform it independently. You have an outgoing and inclusive approach and create good relationships with educators, students, and guardians. You have a respectful attitude towards people's differences and share the values of society and the school, especially regarding inclusion. Furthermore, you are comfortable working in both small and larger groups of students and staff to meet the requirements of the Education Act regarding preventive and health-promoting work.

You follow current research and base your development work on an analysis of previous results. Furthermore, you master the Swedish language in a way that allows you to communicate with students, relatives, and other staff, and can document what the operation requires in writing.
